Engine Management

Hi all

For a while now my car has been running "lumpy" especially in 1st and 2nd. But today on the way home I accelerated only to have no power what so ever.

Then the engine management light flashed maybe 6 or 7 times and a faint smell of burning came into the car, I went up a gear and then the light went off and the car was acting perfect again.

I don't know whether the problem is with 1st or 2nd being lumpy or juddering as if there is no power.

When it first happened a month or two ago I thought it was the spark plugs so I changed them all. And I've looked at the HT leads and they look clean but I don't really know what I'm looking for there.

I've heard people say about the lambda sensor but I don't want to fork out £120 or whatever to replace that if its something else.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated because it's starting to annoy me more and more.

Right first of all let me profusely apologise because there's probably loads of threads like this but I'm in a bit of a tight spot because somehow I've never been able to search on this forum on either of my android phones (it brings up the search bar but won't let you type init) and I'm living on a naval Base at the moment with no laptop :( also I had no idea what section this is meant to be in... But anyway to the questions I've got a 2010 1.5dci 106bhp and been looking everywhere online for a guide on what I need to do and when if anyone has this information I'd be forever greatful, such as cam belt changes and fuel filter etc just can't find it :/
The second part I was wondering was has anyone serviced these engines themselves? I've looked under the bonnet a few times and it's a scary sight coming from the good old days of simple old petrol engines haha, any advice would be good.. I'm also an engineer by trade (not cars though) so I know my way around a spanner and screwdriver, any replies welcome thanks all. :)

Hello, i am reading this forum for years now, and finally will post now something that i believe you can help me with.
I own a Scenic II 2004 with K4J 1400cc engine which i really want to change.
I wanted to know if F4R 2.0 engine will fit inside of my scenic and if my ECU could be reprogrammed for this engine or i will need to buy a F4R ECU.

Ok so hi everyone! My names dhannii I'm a girl and my car won't start! ( the girl but it's just to prove I have no idea with cars!!)

So my car has been running fine all day. About 30 minutes ago I turned my engine off so it didn't make noise outside my house, went to start it again and it didn't start.

I drive a 2003 1.4 16v Renault Megane Dynamique Expression.

So I put the car in (all electives work, central locking, interior lights, dash display) and go to press the brake, and the brake pedal is all the way up and hard ( you can not push it down at all) the steering unlocks and I press the startbutton and it make the start up noise just doesn't actually start. I've tried using the clutch pedal to start it but it won't work. Also it displays the battery warning light. (Now I realise it might be the battery but I'm sure it's not long had a new battery brought it second hand the car but they said the battery was a few months old) also since having the car this has only happened to me tonight. I've never had a problem starting the car.

Any help would be muchly appreciated :)

1.9 dCi knocking engine

Hello folks!

Last night on my way to Luton the car developed a loud knocking noise. I have stopped at the services and stopped it. After checking oil and coolant levels which were fine I tried starting it again but the engine sounded as it is struggling so I called green flag. After an hour the chap came visually checked the engine and asked me to start it. Woop that knock wasn't there anymore. Anyway I drove the 6 miles remaining and the Green flag guy followed me to there. After 2 minutes drive the knock was there again and when we stopped he said it could be an injector. The ECU was scanned for any error codes and there was nothing stored. I risked it and drove from Luton to Coventry this morning as the engine started to knock 10 minutes after I set off.

I will be going to my local mechanic after work so just need to know what to expect.

Electric cars

Pulled into the first or second services going North from Exeter the other day and there parked up at the charge point was a Nissan Leaf looked brand new Irish plates owner fussing about, never seen one or in fact if you discount milk floats seen any fully electric car on the road, anyway a brew n buttie later and we set sail north the Leaf had gone, we were cruising 65/70 as traffic allowed but did not catch it up. Then north of Birmingham about 120 miles later we pull into a services for another brew and to point percy at the porcelain and there was our friend the Leaf plugged in and charging, he was gone again when we came out and we did not catch up so it looks like you can get about quit reasonably in one, must say I was quite impressed, they are getting there.

I have a Laguna 2 and fuse no.3 in the engine bay fuse box keeps blowing can anybody identify what this fuse relates as car won't start just keeps turning over and immobilizer light stays on please somebody help it's driving me crazy

Can Clip Help Please

HI All

I have 2007 Trafic and i want to fit cruise control, all the wiring and plugs are there and i have bought the main switch and the steering wheel buttons. What i want to know is how to activate it with the Can Clip, I have gone to the injection ecu configuration and it says Cruise control "without". I have also been into the live settings and it says the clutch switch is working ok (when i operate it) and that both brake switches are also working fine.

I have not touched the wiring other than plug in the switches. I am assuming that if the wiring plugs are already in the loom then it must be wired???

So how do i program/activate the cruise control ?:confused:

Check emission warning

My 2009 Koleos has a warning, Check emissions along with the engine management light and service spanner illuminated. When trying to engage cruise control or speed limiter a similar check warning comes up. Original warning displayed was Check Injection system but has never re-appeared since the others are on all the time. The car runs as well as it always has done, no black or white smoke from exhaust.

Megane mk3 open boot from inside

Hi everyone I need to open my megane mk3 hatchback boot using the inside override as the button has stopped working but trying to follow the instructions from the manual it say place a pencil in the override hole but there no hole it is all covered in plastic as seen in the picture. Has anyone be able to.open there boot this way. Thanks
