This morning I went to the job centre to sign my dogs up for benefits.
The lady said, "Dogs are not eligible to draw benefits.?"
So, I explained to her that my dogs are coloured, unemployed,
bone lazy, can't speak English and haven't a clue who their Dads are.
They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care.
So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify.

My dogs get their first cheques next Friday.
Blow me, this is a great country!

1.6 Megane sporadic starting/idle problem

Hi everyone, first post so please be gentle.

I've had an intermittent starting/idling problem for the past two weeks. I drive a 2005 1.6 petrol Megane, 99K miles on the clock.

Basically the car starts absolutely fine when parked overnight. It drives ok, other than the RPM dropping slightly below the idle speed when I press the clutch as I reach the end of my street. After this initial drop in RPM it drives fine all the way to work - an 11 mile trip.

It's parked at work for about 9 hours, when I return to the car and start it, the engine fires up but the RPMs drop right down almost immediately. They usually recover within a few seconds but on Friday it actually stalled. It started the second time around but I had to rev it for a few seconds. This only happens when the car is parked for between 6 and 10 hours, if it's restarted after sitting longer, or when in the shops for an hour then it fires up no problem at all. There are no lights illuminated on the dashboard other than the standard lights that illuminate when stalled. MPG does not seem to be an issue, the engine sounds fine and MPG doesn't seem to be an issue.

I have no idea what could be causing the issue and would like to get an idea of what common issues could maybe cause it.

In the last 12 months the car has had: Cylinder head gasket, timing belt, water pump, coolant, dephaser pulley, oil and filter, spark plugs, and air filter replacement. Starter motor, battery and accessory belt have also been replaced in the last 6 months.

Renault megane cabriolet 2001 immobiliser

Hi,

I have a megane cabriolet 2001 one.

As the car was on SORN for couple of months , I used a jumper to start the car every 3 months time.

But unfortunately last time, when I connected the jumper, I connected it wrong way.
Everything finished.
Now the car doesn't want to start at all.

No immobiliser light on the cluster.


Checked all the fuses and relays on engine bay and inside the car .all are ok EXCEPT one fuse in the immobiliser. Fuse no. B. that one keep on burning.

Opened the immobiliser, for any visible burn or anything. But still looks clean.

Ecu is still communicating as I got some values.
Can you help me .

I am a tv mechanic. But not an auto electrician. But my other car taught me a lot about programming, coding , ecu modules etc.

Please help.

BMW wheels onto Trafic - Spiggot size

Hello,

Completely new to this and can barely find my way around the site, let alone the van!

I have just taken BMW AC Schnitzer wheels off my Vivaro and want to put on the Trafic. I am told i need spiggot rings but no one seems to know size required for Trafic. Can anyone help? Also where to buy them.

Also I need spacers to clear new break caliper covers and need slightly longer wheel bolts???

No boost until 3500RPM

Hi all, I don't get any boost from the turbo until 3500RPM I have cleared the error codes after the egr valve pushing pin came away from the main unit, the turbo has been changed but it still don't get any turbo boost until 3500RPM, the engine has done 170000 miles and I plan on doing an engine change.

I have a Clio on a 62 plate, radio stopped working along with the Sat Nav screen. After paying £84 for them to look at it, they now want £478 to fit a new radio. Can I retro fit a Halfords radio and still have the Sat Nav and steering wheel controls work? Thank you in advance for any answers!

Renault Grand Scenic 1.9 DCi Blown main fuse

Bought a 2004 Grand Scenic 1.9 dci for £700. All worked fine then 6 weeks later I was driving along and there was a reduction in power, then smoke from the exhaust, then lost all power and i had to manoeuvre it to the side of the road where it completely died. I managed to start it but there was no acceleration then it blew the main fuse (150amp).
I got it recovered from the roadside to home. I changed the main fuse and the ignition came on but blew the fuse again on pressing the start button. Has anyone had this problem and if so, do you have any suggestions on how/if it can be fixed please

After market radio - Laguna

Hi all,

I recently purchased a September 2005 Laguna Dynamique which had an aftermarket radio fitted, which has lost its fascia.

I have bought a new Kenwood KDC-200UB which of course does not work with the steering wheel controls. The car has a large ISO plug and a 6-pin yellow plug; the Kenwood has an adapter for the ISO and a single wire for the remote controls.

Simple question - what adapter/patch lead do I need to get the two to talk to each other? Also, can I get my remote display back?

Xenons on a Clio 172

Hi everyone,

My friend just got a Clio 172 with xenons and both headlights don't work. I checked the fuses and found a blown 15A and the second one missing...

I didn't have a 15A with me and at 10pm, the shops were closed so I decided to test with a 10A which blew and a 30A that ended up with black contacts but didn't blow. Headlight didn't turn on and I only tried the fuses for one side.

Any idea what would cause the fuses to blow? He's going to get some tomorrow and I'd like to try and diagnose it before taking it somewhere if he has to...

Drivers door lock solenoid

I have an intermittent fault on the drivers door of my 2010 megane, the door will not always unlock when the fob is activated, all other doors are fine, as it is intermittent I'm thinking that the fault could be within the door solenoid itself? I've taken the door panel off but can only see what is in the photo, which I think is just the window motor. Please could anyone let me know where I can find the lock solenoid, I can't find any info about it in the Haynes manual, thanks

long term fuel trim 2.0 turbo

Hi,
Few day ago I discovered that my long term fuel trim is way off. It has been at -19.5% and does not seem to change .
In addition , my short tem fuel trim is fluctuating between 25 and -25 %.So im not sure where to start ?

The car drives fine with no error codes though its just really bugging me. Also, does anyone know what the drive cycle of this car (Espace mk4 2.0T auto) since emission readiness test shows incomplete so It needs to complete a drive cycle?

2005 Megane Grand Scenic starting issues

Morning,

Sorry if I am asking a question that may have been covered somewhere else, if I am maybe someone with more knowledge on here could direct me !! But i have searched and couldn't find anything new !!
My wife has 55 plate Megan Grand Scenic, the last few weeks it has had some issues on starting. At first we assumed it was the keycard's as it was locking and unlocking on one card and starting on another but not locking or unlocking. So we managed to get one keycard repaired, the other was past it. This worked for a day and then the car started to not start again. So we took the key back and it was tested and shown to be working. We were advised to change the card reader, which we did and this solved the issue for a couple of days and then the car started not starting again. The car just clicks on pressing the start button and a message o the dash says to " remove card ". There is no pattern in the car starting or not starting, there are no other messages on the dash.

I have had the AA test the battery and they confirmed the battery was still good, I have changed batteries in the keycard, i have checked fuses and the battery connections and cannot see anything dodgy. I have thrown £50 a the key repair and a further £150 at the card reader being swapped over. The car is a 55 plate with only 55k on the clock and other than not starting not in bad condition for the age, but I am reluctant to go down the route of having electrical issues diagnosed as in my experience this is a massively time consuming and costly process and I guess the car is just not work spending hundreds of pounds on.

Should anyone have an idea of what else to check or the someone with expert renault knowledge that could help me it would be much appreciated, fingers crossed....

Grand Scenic III Engine Hazard and codes

2011 1.6 dci has thrown the Engine Warning Hazard !

Was driving along. Put foot down to pass tractor - quick hard acceleration and warning sign up.

Car seems to drive fine - smooth - but with warning sign.

Plugged mates Scanner in which shows the following codes

1. DTC0226F1 - accelerator pedal position
2. DTC047195 - pressure upstream of turbine
3. DTC1525F3 - consistent multiple signals for CC/SL

Could not clear.

Any ideas what the issue could be.

Hi I have a 02 plate senic 1.9 dci every morning when I try and start it seems to take ages to start then when engine warms up starts straight away but shakes a bit on start up its had new glow plugs and cleaned tdc and egr valve

Electronic handbrake issues

Hi folks. If this has been asked before then I apologise but in need of help. Have a 54 plate Megane scenic which had seized handbrake cables and gubbed discs and pads. Replaced handbrake cables and new disc and pads. It started with handbrake fault showing on dash so I put clip on it after all the work was done and cleared the faults but the epb will only work when you either pull away or switch it off. I can manually release the epb with clip and then reapply it again and get a good handbrake but can't work it from buttons on dash board. I have replaced the switch and still does the same. When clip is attached I can check the operation of the switches and they are all showing as working yet fault code points to switch which as I said has been replaced making no difference. Any idea's. Thank you

No electrics after cam belt change

Hi there am new to this forum business so hope I get this correct wondering if any one can give me some advice on a 1993 Renault traffic t1100 1721 engine camper van changed the cam belt on her which seems ok but now have no electrics ie ignition lights running lights hazards lights disconnected the main battery before doing the belt but now all seems dead all leisure battery lights and accessories work the battery is also charged many thanks

Does an espace iv have a CBOX?

Hi,

I'm trying to find out if an espace iv 2011 has a CBOX. It's a controller for the USB to use through the audio system.

As I would like to fit one to my espace, so I can listen to music off my memory stick.
