New Clio problem

$

Hi,

First post so please be kind.

My wife got a new Clio in Nov 2013. Lovely little car but after 1 week it developed a fault with the Satnav. Everything else was fine with the car.

Anyway, we took it back to the dealer on the 29th Nov and they informed us that it needed some software to be installed and this had been ordered and would be with us within 7 to 10 days.

So we waited and chased only to find that nothing had been done. My wife raised a complaint with Renault UK on 31st Dec 2013. I've just spent the first part of today chasing to see what is happening since it seems nothing has happened to date. I've asked for it to be escalated but have yet to hear back.

So my question is: What more can people suggest that I do?

Thanks

Darrel

Laguna 1 (Monaco) 2000 Bonnet catch-NOT closing

$

Hi guys, Have looked hard to see if anyone else has had problem with the Laguna bonnet, having read most of the Clio catch problems - no insight. Laguna postings are the opposite problem - release, my problem is incomplete closing.
The bonnet has 3 catches, nearside, drivers and the safety in the middle. The faulty one is on the drivers side. The sensor alert is driving me nuts at any speed now, as I have had the problem for 6 months and my serviceman (not a current dealership but once was) says it wasnt an easy fix. As there was only an intermittant alert initially at motorway speeds above 60mph, I’d let it go but as MOT approaches, Ive got to get onto it. As per Spirochette's useful post on the method of release, I gather you do need to get on your back under the front grill at some point:eek: While of the female sex Im not averse to this ;)but at present its very wet and I dont have anywhere I can think of where its dry and under cover where I dont have to lie on wet gravel.
There is a metal hook shape on latch which doesnt remain in position to complete a closure. Both sets of springs SEEM to work. Took pics showing nearside latch which I can push into closed postion, but the other latch (drivers side) wont stay in that position, it springs back to open. Lots of degreaser/ WD40 and toothbrush applied, but cant see under the catch to see wire release point.
When the release handle is pulled, I can hear the sound of wire release (spring) working on nearside only.
I was hoping it might be a fix even I could attempt, but as someone else went off to garage for a £74 fix for the release, I might have to admit defeat.:surrender
Any advice please.
Jan

NO Baby Talk

A group of nursery children were trying very hard to become accustomed to the infants school.

The biggest hurdle they faced was that the teacher insisted on NO baby talk.

You need to use 'Big People words,' she was always reminding them.

She asked John what he had done over the weekend ? 'I went to visit my Nana'

'No, you went to visit your GRANDMOTHER.
Use 'Big People' words!' She then asked Michael what he had done

'I had a ride on a choo-choo.'

She said.

'No, you took a ride on a TRAIN. You must remember to use 'Big People' words.' She then asked little Alex what he had done?

'I read a book,' he replied.

'That's WONDERFUL!' the teacher said.
'What book did you read?'

Alex thought really hard about it, then puffed out his chest with great pride and said:
"Winnie the ****!"

when I drove on to my drive today my abs warning light, brake circuit fault warning light and stop light all came on. also it came up with the message brake system failure and my speedo no longer works, there is just 2 - - for it. I left the car for a bit and started it again and all of the lights came on again, I drove the car round the block and also the steering was heavy. when I parked the car back on the drive and switched the engine off it then told me to switch it back on to charge the battery as it was low. has anyone had similar problems or know how it can be fixed?

Advised I wasn't due a service yet? I'm just wondering how to check myself? It's done 59600 miles

For anyone interested, there's a pretty good chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis tonight.

The further North you live the better, & I'd guess also a location where there isn't much light pollution.

Unfortunately I'd need to travel miles to dodge the latter. :(

2009 Traffic M9R 782 Non start

$

Im sorry that this is my first post with what seems to be a big problem, especially for me.
I have a 59 (2009) Renault Traffic with the M9R 782 engine that will not start. I bought it with an overheating issue and the head was off of it. It was stripped by Renault but the owner did not want to pay for its repair. The engine is all built up now after the head was overhauled but it will not start. There is fuel being pumped from the pump into the fuel gallery and up to the injectors one minute and then not the next. I have bled the system with the primer bulb but if left for a while, i can pump the primer maybe once and a bit before it is really hard again. I checked voltage at the pressure sensor and am getting .48 volts at the centre wire at ign on and .3 volts at cranking. The other wires are earth and the other will give a voltage of 8.3 volts.
It seems as if the pressure starts to build up and then it dumps the pressure.
The glow plugs also only seem to operate for half a second if i connect a circuit tester to the actual plug with the ambient temperature being approx 12 Degrees. Is this normal or a faulty relay??
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello Renault lovers! :D I want to buy a R19 91' that has aircon. And the engine is 1.4e, is this normal? It also has steering wheel that is adjustable by hight, electric windows. Isn't this odd, so many things that newer models lack? O, it is Sedan if this changes anything.

Burnt Petrol Pump Plug

Good day

Let me start by thanking you all for your tips. I have been working on my wife’s car for two weeks now (off and on around Christmas) and you have helped me check and find out a lot.

The problem is her car cranks, but won’t start. No it’s not the TDC sensor. Been there, cleaned and checked it. It even has a resistance of 255 ohms.

I have found that the fuel pump does not work. I started trying to remove it, but don’t have the special tool to loosen the retaining ring/ nut thing. Anyway I was taking some photo’s for my recollections (i.e. for when I have to put it back together) and saw that one of the terminals, the negative one is burnt at the pin.

This explains a lot about how the car behaved before it finally stopped for good, but I won’t go there right now.

Has anyone ever seen this before? What would cause this as I would imagine a fuse should have blown first. What are the chances that if I can repair the terminal that the pump will still work? What can I do to ensure this does not happen again.

Thanks for any input.

Regards

Jon

Megane 3 Strange Power Steering and ABS issue

$

My car megane 3 is out of warranty and only has under 15k miles on it. Today I drove around like any other day. Parked up at the shops. When i came back and started the car, i got a warning message saying power steering fault STOP in red. The power steering at this point did not activate as its electric i thought maybe an electric fault. Turned off and on many times didnt help. Then i took out the fusebox in the engine bay and disconnected it and tested all fuses. All fuses were ok. ran out of options. I checked the fuses in the glovebox which were also ok. then i tried starting again a few times and no luck. After a while low battery warning came on telling me to start the car. So i started it and this point another error came saying ABS fault with the ABS light. Turned the car off and on a few times and the power steering fault completely disappeared and power steering was working again.

Left the car running with the check abs warning so the battery could charge. eventually after a good 20minutes the abs light went off too.

Drove it around for a while and the problem has not come back yet.

Its a very strange issue and wondering if anyone can guide me to what might be wrong?

The dash is showing that my service is due in 20days

o/s/f suspension collapse, just MOT'd

Hi, first post on this very informative forum so bear with me.

My 1.5dci Kangoo went to the garage over the new year for work and an MOT. Total cost £800.
First issue was engine, (glow plug light on and engine management light coming on under acceleration with power loss, hard first starting). New glow plugs fitted but still the same. They said fuel pressure was an issue and it was draining back to the tank overnight. I cleaned the egr valve today, glow plug light still on, however not test driven due to my next disaster...

Other work done included:
New front disks and pads
New pas hydraulic pipe (£154.94+ vat, £8 for another part)
o/s/f ball joint
Handbrake adjust
Number plate light

£800 picked up on Monday 6th new MOT

Then today, I turn out of my drive to a dreadful creaking and knocking sound. Sure enough, I can see the osf spring is out of its housing, maybe even broken.
Awaiting recovery vehicle tomorrow.
Strangely, I did notice the van felt and looked slightly lower only yesterday.

I'd be grateful for anyone's thoughts whether the collapse could be to do with the MOT work or if it could have been spotted. I've driven about 150 slow miles since.
Cheers all
Navara

1998 Clio engine change

Hello im fairly new to this so please bare with my silly questions.

but I have recently purchased a 1998 clio with a head gasket failure. And wanted to use it as a project car.

I was informed that it'd be around £600 inc Vat to repair. So I've decided that its cheaper to swap the engine..

A local scrap yard has told me they have a engine for a 2002 plate clio but im not 100% sure itd fit. Does anyone know if its possible for it to fit?
