RX4 - Squeaking, now Grinding noise from front wheels

After hearing the one of the wheels making a squeak sound every now and during certain turns, the squeak noise has just now turned into a a semi-permanent grinding noise.

I presume that it's the pads that are no longer there, and it is metal on metal...

Anyone pointers on this to help confirm this finding or if it might be something else, will be greatly appreciated.

Other than that the RX4 has been a very reliable vehicle. :)

Renault RX4 - Idle for 2 weeks in France - Battery booster required

Does anyone know of good portable battery boosters?

I have an RX4 and it's been sitting idle for 2 weeks in France, outside Lyon airport and its very likely the battery will be dead.
I could always ask the next best Frenchman with Jump leads, but not sure anyone is going to be around at midnight.

Any suggestions greatly received! :)

Clio Mk2 Ph1 Seats

Hi all,

First post here, Kind of new to the forum thing.
Straight to the point.

I have recently bought a tidy Clio Mk2 Ph1 (1999 3dr 1.2), its had a complete engine and gearbox change to one thats only done 36000 miles. Managed to get it for £300 from a relative.

However, the relative in question is a builder by trade and has ruined the front seats. So I'm looking to replace them. Im looking to fit Clio 172 half leather seats in front and rear, I just don't know whether they'll fit straight in.

Im aware they fit into a ph2 easily, just cant find details on fitting a ph1.

Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone.. Laguna 2001 1.8 16v

Strange issue.. couldn't find anything on the search..

Pulled out of junction turning left and hear a big TWANG and Bang.. Lost all drive.. towed her home..

Clutch pedal still has tension.. looked into top of engine bay.. son was changing gear.. the rods and selector all move as they should.. so popped n/s drive shaft out and found these 3 gold star headed tops of bolts in the rubber gaiter..

It looks like they have sheared from the black ring plate that is sitting at the front in this photo as i can see the sheared ends throught the holes

My questions are... is it worth repairing? is it worth getting the gearbox out? would it be easy to replace these screws/bolts? or do i have another much major underlying problem???

So ever since I got my cursed car it has been misfiring an awful lot and 8 garages including a Renault garage have yet to fix it. I decided to just drive this thing till it exploded regardless of the misfires because frankly I was sick to death of noone being able to find the problem. However on my way out to lunch today (which I was very much looking forward to, may I add) I had a new problem! Nothing actually felt wrong with the car however a message came on saying "Electrical Fault" and the little spanner at the bottom stayed lit on. I waited by the side of the road about ten minutes before deciding to risk going home. On the way back it went off but I am now too scared to drive it. What shall I do? I'm in two minds between wasting more money on garages who don't change a thing or getting rid of the car. I guess this is more a rant than a question. If anyone has an idea what it could be if the misfires and electric fault are linked though then please let me know. Also I did just change all the sparks and coil packs on the far but guessing I couldn't have done much wrong installing them if it has started fine and ran fine for the past month?

Clio 2005 1.4 16V STOP and Temp lights flashing

Hi, I have Clio 2005 1.4 16V, 91,000KM driven. Its STOP and Temp lights are turning ON after 3-4 minutes of engine start. Goes OFF by itself after few minutes and then turn ON again. I have changed the radiator and coolant. Temp needle is just below the half.
Temp sensor was changed almost one year back. At that time, temp needle was going to red area within few seconds even after starting the car after 24 hours. I got this job done by myself with the help of this forum.
Any help in this regard?

Megane Scenic Y reg immobiliser problem

Hello there.

This is my first post and i'm hoping for a little help.
I bought a Y reg Megane Scenic from a friend a couple of months ago. This week I have had the same problem 3 times when it never happened to her once...

The car will turn over but will not fire and start. I have done some reading and can see that it's probably a problem with the immobiliser.

I'm not sure what's causing it. If I leave the car for about 40 minutes it's ok again and then is ok for maybe a day or 2 and then it'll reoccur.

Can anyone help me? It's currently sat outside the kids school as It wouldn't restart after school pick up.

2001 Laguna II AC clutch not engagening - relay/fuse or sensor problem

Greetings

I have a 2001 Laguna II where which i bought used. I believe that the AC haven't really been used when i bought it, so it might be leaking.

When i tried to diagnose the problem here is what I found.

The clutch can move freely, both in and out, and around.
There is power to the AC through the to wires in the bottom of the unit and there is a connection to some of the unused fuses in the fusebox in the engine compartment.

I haven't checked if there is gas on the system or if the sensor is bad, but i feel like it might be a fuse or relay problem. because there is only 4 relays and 11 fuses in the box in the engine compartment and there is a lot of free slots.

Do you guy know if there should be more fuses/relays or are there just extra slots. ?

Megane convertible 2002 2.0 16v IED idle fault

Hi everyone just joined the site need some help just been given a Megan convertible 2.0 16v 2002 which as a idle problem starts fine then when warm starts to drop revs and engine starts rocking back and fourth if I rev it, drives great and will rev clean and crisp and then drop down to a poor idle, it as failed its MOT on emissions at idle only so a little puzzled as I have replaced air filter and plugs, swapped the pencil coils over and I have found number 3 cylinder is the problem I have done a compression test on all cylinders they are about the same, have changed the injector the same problem still there. Would a possible air leak cause this.

Megane Convertible Roof Hydraulics

Hi, I am new to the forums so I hope this thread is in the right place. I have a 2001 Megane Convertible which has recently started losing fluid from the roof hydraulics. I am pretty sure it just needs one of the hoses replacing but I am not a particularly practical person so I wondered if anyone could recommend a garage or, preferably, an individual in West Yorkshire that may be able to help. I would go to a main dealer but I can't afford their prices.
Alternatively, has anyone tried using hydraulic leak stopper on a roof?

Mk IV Grand Espace load cover?

Hey everybody,

I've just bought a '54 Grand Espace 2.2dCi Privilege, and one of the little 'niggles' is that the parcel shelf/load cover doesn't locate it the retainers at the sides of the boot. The plastic bar that goes through it is too short to meet the sides.... I just wondered if I'm missing some bits from the ends, or whether it's the wrong load cover?

Laguna Mk11 Brake pipes/hose

I have spent over an hour searching the web and this forum and can't find an answer so hopefully you can help:d.

My son has a Laguna Mk2. I replaced the pads and fitted new caliper seal and boot. When reassembling and starting to bleed there was brake fluid pouring out of the caliper where the pipe enters.

So 2 questions please.
1. Should there be a washer between nut and caliper body, I assume not but wonder if one dropped off.
2. Is it possible to replace only the last metal pipe, It looks as though the flexible hose and metal pipe either side are joined with no way to dismantle. Pipe is fine but in my effort to tighten nut sufficiently it has not rounded and if there is no washer then it is not sealing properly. Hoping I don't have to replace complete pipe and can just replace the last piece of pipe 6 about inches.

Hi all hope someone can help as this has had me baffled for almost a month now. Car will start and then it doesn't nothing at all happens. There is no set time when this happens i.e. when cold or trying to start from warm etc. I researched quite a bit over past few days but still having same problems. I have cleaned TDC checked all terminals connections etc, immobiliser light is going out before I try to start, had starter checked all fine. Problem is nothing at all happens when I try to start no clicking, no cranking, nothing at all completely dead as if there is no engine. Weirdly though its only just started doing this over the past few weeks but its been getting more frequent over the past few days. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am now losing the will to live or even keep sane.

Hi my clio extreme 04 is taking longer than normal to get from 60-70 while the accelerator is touching the floor it doesn't seem to help it along. It's taking about 15-20 seconds to get from 60 to 70.

Can anyone help?

Hi guys, I am new to this but been looking on here since I bought this car last week, my wife and I decided to buy a 2006 Renault megane 2.0 convertible advertised as 'great con ready for summer' when we picked it up I noticed on the drive home it was spluttering and not accelerating :( I seen on here about coils going bad? so I changed all 4 coils and spark plugs which didn't work, I then got told to change the injectors which I did at a cost of £160 still made no difference :confused: so to cut a long story short here's what I have changed: coils, spark plugs, injectors, map sensor, temp sensor, o2 sensor, air filter :crying:.

the engine runs lumpy and when I press the accelerator the engine splutters, pops and farts, I know a lot about cars and how to fix them but this is driving me mad now :rant:so would appreciate some help:d

hi guys,

ok to cut a long story short I bought a 2006 megane convertible last week and its running like a bag of s##t! on tic over it runs lumpy and when you press the accelerator it splutters and really struggles to rev then when I drive it it runs like its running out of fuel ( it has half a tank ) my mpg went from about 25 mpg to 4.5 mpg :mad: I was given advise from a local mechanic so up to now this is what I have changed with no effect what so ever!:crying: 4 coils, spark plugs, injectors, map sensor, temp sensor, air filter :confused:

really stuck now guy and would appreciate and help/advice or if this has happened to anyone else
