High Idle, jumpy speedo

Morning All,

Hoping someone can advise regarding two issues I'm having...

First off, when starting from cold my megane (1.6 16v) will idle at around 2000rpm.
If i let it run for 10 minutes or so, then restart the engine, it will hop to 2000 and then dial down to a steady 750rpm.

- I'm so far suspecting a temp sensor (air intake or coolant) to be the likely cause, but wondered if there were any other potential causes?

The second issue is an intermittent problem with the speedo "bouncing", it doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it appears to be made worse when putting my toe down.
I was initially thinking it might be an earthing issue, but now i'm worried it could be the alternator?

Any advice you renault geniuses you? :D

What's this?! Noticed whilst changing glow plugs

I noticed this whilst changing my glow plugs. It doesn't look healthy to me. It's not completely detached but looks different to the one below, could anyone enlighten me?

Grande Scenic Dci Mk3 mods?

I've just recently bought a Renault scenic grande mk3 2010 and i was trying to find some mods for it but can't seem to find any for my model.

I was just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for any body, headlight or rear light mods.

A screw driver fell into my cigarette lighter in my car no damage but a little spark come off it and now my radio turns it's self off and my washers don't work and my cigarette lighter don't work and rear demist and ac lights don't work any help would be greatly appreciated

Ford Mondeo Dash Issue

Any one got any ideas what happened to my MIL display on her Mondeo? (Its a year 2000 mode i believe) :confused:

Car has been sat around for around 3 weeks but everything was fine before hand.....

Expensive to replace or do you think she should get another car? :)

Megane fails to run

Hi,
We took the K7M lump out of our 1998 megane to fit new clutch + head gasket. Re fitted, connected everything up, fired up, ran for 2 secs and died. Since then, nothing.
We have got the key number and re-set the immobiliser when it then fired once but did not run. Checked the inertia switch. Only thing I can think of, this is the only car I have ever worked on where the fuel feed and return pipes are exactly the same size and fittings and you can't tell which is which and we never thought to mark them. It's fairly obvious which is the feed pipe if you turn the key and fuel is pumped out but which end of the rail does it go? Some help here would be much appreciated.

Good morning gents,

I have searched previous threads and I can't find reference to my specific concern so I am posting here but as will become apparent it might not be the right sub-forum.

My ClioI (1997 1.2 manual) has an annoying hum from 20 mph which originates at the front of the vehicle. The noise doesn't change much in pitch with increased speed and is not affected by engine speed, gear change or braking and is therefore confined soley to the vehicle rolling down the road. I was fairly sure that it must be a wheel bearing especially as the only time the noise changes beyond slight variation is in a sharp left hand turn above about 45 degrees thus shifting load towards the right hand wheel. In these circumstances the noise decreases or even briefly stops. This lead me towards the left hand front wheel. However the vehicle has just passed an MOT inspection and the garage said they could find no bearing issues. They said they could not identify the noise but I am not entirely convinced they really bothered as this was my first visit to that garage and it was only an MOT during which they got a few extra shillings out of me anyway. So, examining the vehicle myself I have to admit that the bearing seems stable and the wheel rotates very freely. The drive shaft however has slight oil staining (not wet as in leaking rather like the mist stains seen in many places on a vehicle of this age. If I hold the drive shaft with one hand and rotate the hub back and forth with the other I can feel a slight play not in the way of movement but a slight click felt as you would feel vibration. Does anyone have an idea of what I am looking at here, is it wheel bearing, drive shaft or something worse? I don't want to give up on this car as it is my wifes work transport and I enjoy doing what work I can on it. Please help!

Help oil leak

Can anyone help I have a Renault espace 53reg and have a small leak I looked and it looks like there is a silver flexi hose from bottom of enginge and has a white plastic on the other end there seems a bit of play on bottom of hose and I can see movement of oil have photo but cannot add on here?

Steering angle Sensor

Hi I have Laguna II 2.0 IDE I have a a problem with it for a while so it's been sat in our workshop at work anyway I have sorted out the other problems but not because it's been stood for 3 months and the battery died and now I have a Steering angle sensor fault but I can't re calibrate it with my Snap-On Solus system any ideas lads
Because of the fault its putting the ESP light on and it's driving me mad :devil: .................HELP!

Scenic 2 (2008) Internal Fuse box map.

I've just had a fuse pop, searched this forum for information got some, but not all I needed in the one thread. So here goes.

1) Cigar lighter/ancillary socket not working.

2) Found interior fuse box in glove compartment. Couldn't open it. Tried to press in the 2 clips at the front of the box, you can just about open the right hand side but not the left, it still feels as though something is holding it. Found via this forum, its just a very tight slider continue to pull the fuse box lid down.

3) It clicks down but, not enough, you have to keep pulling it down, feels like 3 notches you have to get by on the slider but the tray will come down so its vertical. You can then see the fuse map on the inside of the tray.

I hope this saves you the hour or so I wasted being over delicate with my Scenic.

Clio immobiliser reset sequence

Is there a sequence I should follow to get the keyfob and engine immobiliser to work together after the battery had too be charged up by a friend while I was out of the country, so that my son could use the car. The car turns over BUT refuses to fire up. It has a fully charge battery and fuel.

Megane Scenic 1999 - Engine sounds very throaty

Hi all,
Over the past 2 weeks or so the engine of my Megane Scenic has started to sound very rough. A sort of throaty sound. I lifted the bonnet and this does not look like a happy engine to me. Could anyone diagnose this please. How serious is it? Those holes in the pictures seem to be the root of the noise.

RenaultSport Megane II 225 Engine Vibration

Hello everyone,

I'd be really grateful if someone can help me with this. I'm having a problem with my RenaultSport Megane II 225. There is an annoying vibration when the engine is idling which gets better when revs are applied but never really disappears - for example when driving along the view in the rear mirrors occasionally blurs because of the vibration even though it is less severe.

I've had a garage look at the engine mounts and they say that when they bar the rear bush it goes down quite a lot but it is still present, and that there is very little play in any of the mounts, so they don't recommend changing them. They have no idea what else to suggest.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can look at next?

Hey all,

New guy here just bought the above reading here sounds like I have made a mistake???

96k on the clock diesel and has all the extras but guess that comes with the issues to. Found my first today that the passenger side door doesnt lock on central locking fob or button in the car is that a common fault?

Grand Scenic rear window problem

Hi Guys
Hope that you can help. I think that my problem is electrical. My wife accidently deadlocked our car with one of the back doors open at which point one of the rear windows slid down to halfway and stopped there. We can not now open or close the back window. Can someone tell me where I can locate the fuse for the back electrical windows to see if there is a 'blown' fuse. Or maybe there is something else that people 'in the know' can tell me about that might have caused this problem?

Grand Espace 2003

The rear passenger window in our 2003 Grand Espace jammed down today and will not move. Is there any way we get the window to go up manually until we can get to a garage.

right my satnav works but every time I take out the key card I lose the time.. does anyone know if there is a fuse for the secondary power for the satnav....eg permanent power that lets it keep its time
