My 1998 Renault Clio Mk2 1.2 8V occasionally sticks in first gear when sat at a junction with my foot fully down on the clutch leaving the car slowly crawling forward, which then takes a strong pull on the gear lever to get back into neutral.
Could this be due to maybe the clutch cable not fully releasing the clutch meaning the drive is still engaged ?
As I say though this only happens occasionally, not all the time.
Another occasional symptom is when driving along in 5th gear; at a steady speed of say 45 to 55 mph, no problems, but when at longer periods at 60+ after a while it drops out of 5th back into neutral. Any ideas ?

Hi, I have recently bought a Renault Megane I Music (2010) and it has two ISOFIX points in the back seats. I've been reading through the manual but can't make sense of it.

Does anyone know how to fit a car seat onto it?

Hi

I am looking at a 52 reg at the moment, and would like to know what to watch out for. It has done 85k and currently don't know what service history the car has, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got a y reg Clio 1.9tdi . Haynes dont cover the tdi in their Clio manual. What can do is get the Scenic and Megane Haynes just for the engine. Any other options?

I'm looking for confirmation on whether a 1999 (V Reg) Clio II 1.6 RXE would work with an ODB II protocol - can anyone confirm or deny this?

I have read on this forum (and several other sites) that post-2001 petrol cars do indeed conform to ODB II, but can find no definitive answer my pre-2001 Clio II.

Also, could anyone recommend a good reader and software? In an ideal world, it'd be great if I could read this from my Mac or iPhone.

Appreciate any / all advice!

hi all,having had new tyres fitted to my car this morning driving it away from the garage i noticed that the dash was telling me to check the airbag, the message was not there prior to tyre change and the garage insisted they have not "knocked" anything is there anything i can do before i go to a renault dealers to have it checked out ???
service light and airbag symbols are also light up on the dash

The rear brake shoes were renewed, and new rear brake cylinders were put in. Load-sensitive pressure regulating valve was checked and, as per Haynes manual, was working. But brakes terrible; much worse than handbrake. What might be the problem?

My 2010 1.6 scenic 3 developed a number of faults simultaniously.Start button doesnt work with gears in neutral,only with clutch pressed.reversing lights &parking sensors stopped working ,air conditioner stopped cooling & (check parking brake) warning appears on dash when keycard is inserted.The parking brake appears to work normally.The warning goes off when driving but spanner light stays on.Have checked all fuses I can find in glove box & beside battery.Would be very grateful for some pointers.

I've got a 2007 Laguna 2 2.0DCi which has got quite a few miles on it. It drives really well and has been looked after but there is a very annoying vibration/noise when accelerating. There is nothing below 2000rpm then I get a resonance/booming type noise which stays for about 300-500rpm. I've checked various things like engine mounts, exhaust hanger at the front and a few other things but can't seem to trace it. It's oiling an otherwise lovely driving car which I'm very pleased with. I know diesels are noisy and as an ex mechanic (retired due to illness) I realise that it could be wear and tear. Anyone else had this or now of a fix?

Hi, just bought a new Laguna III.
while using the phone i realize than I cant see all my phone contacts because it can only recognize 500.
Can I make it to recognize more?

HI all
I have a renault espace 2ltr 16v w reg for some reason will not start before it would not lock the car but would start now won't do both I have put new batteries in the key fob good quality ones,I have checked fuses all ok.I did remove the battery as I was working behind it don't know if that might be the problem,I have been to renault but they have no idea.

Espace IV 2003, 3.5 v6 petrol
My auto box has stopped shifting up between 2-3 and 3-4 in moderate acceleration but seems to shift in very gentle acceleration. It down shifts no problem. If you put it in manual it shifts fine throughout the box. Anyone out there have any clues?

Right, I have a question regarding the gap I have between the headlight and the grill on the front of my Clio. I have had this since I bought the car and am wondering if you can move the headlight inwards so the gap is minimalized or can't the headlight position be adjusted?

Am wondering as I want to put an RS grille onto it and the gap looks silly due to it being only on the drivers side... Will post a picture of it if necessary.

HI I'm new on here so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong bit.

Just need some advice on the automatic gearbox in my 2005 2.2 dci grand espace . The problem is not all the time and I say it only happens when it's been running for a while it doesn't want to change gear and when it does its loud and very "clicky". WHATS THE PROBLEM . With help of a mate I changed the gearbox oil as it was low and very brown so I replaced it. Hope someone can help as at the mo I'm looking at trying to change it to manual thanks tom

Hi all,

So after replacing the Ignition Coils (4) on the Scenic that cuts out, i thought we might have cracked it with the TDC sensor.

Bought one, called the garage and they tell me they have already fitted the cam shaft sensor which is the same thing, is it??

So far then, new battery, new throttle body, new injector coils, new cam shaft sensor, engine flush....and STILL cutting out from hot or cold.

ANY Ideas at all please (before we P/X it, which seems a real shame and quite drastic!)......

We don't really want to keep throwing parts at it for obvious reasons, any definitive fixes we can try????

Any local enthusiasts that could help/look/advise? we are in Fleet, Hampshire.

Hi i am new to this and would hust like to ask and see if anyone is having the same problem as me thats if it is a problem,i have just purchased the new clio 0.9 tce 90 dynamique s 898cc,i am only getting 30 mile to the gallon on eco mode,as i only drive urban,it does state on speci that you should get approx 54 mpg i am not really expecting this but 30 is really bad,i have rang twice and they say i have to break the engine in and one person said to do 1000 miles and another said 3000 miles before i feel the differnce in miles,i am not happy with this its costing me a fortune to run,last week i went to blackpool on the a roads and the mileage went up to about 37 mpg as i was driving roughly 50mph,now i am back home its started dropping again because i am just round and about,please someone help and tell me if this is right ?? thanks

Hi, I have a 2002 kangoo 1.4 auto which when I select drive or reverse a buzzing sound comes from the top of the gearbox, but will not drive. I have checked all connection's and plugs on the gearbox, which all seem ok, I have changed the fluid but no difference, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks gerry

Hi

I have a random electrics/electronics problem with my daughter's Clio 1.4. The car can be fine one minute with everything working but then various bits randomly stop and start again within minutes. Bits affected are: wipers, indicators, lights, electric windows. Sometimes central locking works and sometimes not. It's due its test soon so I need this sorted. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
