Some of you may know that Brazilian renaults can run on ethanol, alchohol.
Indigenous fuel production.
Ive also read that certain renault petrol engines cant be modified to run on alcohol.I think the rs ..in Brazil has to be done on special import n like that cos it cant run on alcohol..
While looking thru 2011-2014 renaults(here in Ireland) to see what mine is worth..what Id get on a trade in,etc etc:
I came across a main dealer selling "ethanol"mk 3 clios 2011 ?..more than one of lowish mileage.
This dealer seems to get "batches" of renaults, from somewhere.
I thought maybe ex fleet, or all ireland ex demos.
Im not really interested in a clio but
1. Are there alcohol capable renaults in the UK generally in use?I havent seen much mention of them here.
Ive never seen ethanol renaults advertised before in ireland either.Maybe there are "moonshine/potin" stills around.
I just wondered where these came from.
The other aspect is.
My renault megane is 2011 (first half)
27k miles colour beige/gold
90bhp 200nm 5 speed box expression (without a tuning box).
a)I could swop it for a 2013 (2nd half)
90bhp dynamique, cruise control, cayenne red, built in led drls height adjustable passenger seat,oh and the engine must be slightly different cos it has 220 nm base torque ? mileage 600 miles..ex demo I suppose.
cost around £4800.
Guaranteed to 2018.
I recently extended my own guarantee, cos in 2011 they only came with 3 years ,so mine is now good till 2016.
b)I could swap it for a 2013 dynamique petrol 1.2 tce.. which I havent driven yet :)
Same cayenne colour 6 speed box specs 115 bhp, 190nm at 2000 rpm rising to 200 nm higher in rev range 115 bhp supposedly at 4500 rpm.
same slight equipment spec increase as the diesel. No dpf either :)
Mileage 30 miles.
Cost £3200 approx.
Mpg average drop.. hard to say maybe 6-7 mpg on combined..Urban use only probly none at all.
nb
the actual diesel vs petrol cost is reversed here in Ireland, diesel is slightly cheaper.
Any opinions on that?
