Megane II: Socket missing a mate

Just removed the left wheel arc liner to do some work and found an electric socket hanging all loose, running from the same sleeve as the ABS sensor (see attached pics). It's all dirty and gunked up and with no mate in sight.

Anyone happen to know what it is?

Hello, this is my first post on here. I have been reading through the past posts but haven't found anything definitive on this so thought it might be worth a new thread. If its been discussed before point me in the right direction and I happily go and learn what I can from that thread

so to cut a long story short, I have recently become the proud owner of a very nice 2004 1.9 dci Renault Trafic van which requires a new engine! I haven had time to investigate yet the exact cause of the engine that's in to seize up, all I know is that its locked up really tight there is literally no movement what so ever in the bottom crank so initial thoughts are slipped timing belt or possibly failed turbo.

What I am wondering and have been researching recently is which engines might be suitable as a replacement. The engine that it left the factory with was a F9Q760 although on the back of the block it says F9K but from what I've read this could be present on either an f9q or f9k engine.

I'm aware that the same or similar engine was fitted to Lagunas, Scenics and possibly some other cars so I'm wondering could anyone help to clarify which engine will go straight in and run preferably without me having to swap over the injectors and fuel rail and fuel pump? Also will this new engine need re coding to my ecu?

My apologies for asking so many questions in a first post I will be sure to post pictures and keep this thread up to date with my progress when I get to swapping the engine for the benefit of other members.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Clio 1.2 03 reg not starting again

hi I am in need of help again please. Whislt driving home last night I noticed that the rev counter on the car was only reading 1200 RPM whilst I was doing 60. Also the temp gauge was reading nothing but then occasionally going to the correct temp. I decided to switch the ignition off and back on. After doing this the previous 2 faults remained but I now had the red stop warning light on. When I got home I switched the car off and tried to restart. It now will not start at all. I did have a previous issue with fuel pump not running but I can hear that running so not the same fault. Could anyone please give me some advice and point me in the right direction as im at my wits end with the car lol.

Clio washer bottle not working

hi I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice please. My washers have stopped working. Wipers still work ok but no wash. I have test the power at the bottle and I am not getting 12volts there. Where is the next place to try? any common faults on them

Bluetooth radio installation for 2008 Twingo w/ stalk controls

Hi Guys,

Just got my first car (2008 Twingo GT), want to add a Bluetooth radio/connectivity and keep the steering wheel stalk controls etc.

Are my options likely to be this:

Or this:
Renault Bluetooth adapter for streaming and hands free calls CTARNBT003 for RD3 | In Car Connections + use the existing radio.

Hands free is important too, I assume both would achieve this? Also there's a mic above my rear-view mirror, how would this come into play?

Looks like either way it's setting me back £90

Pretty clueless so any advice most welcome!

R-Link 2 to get Apple Carplay and Android Auto

Has anybody else seen this:

According to Groupe Renault, all new Renaults from April will come with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. This is nice, but disappoints me as I just bought a new Megane which I'm picking up tomorrow. As it has the R-Link2 system already, I'm hoping there will be an update to the software to allow me to upgrade.

'08 Renault Laguna Parking Brake Fault reset

Hi,
Having managed to stall my Laguna while the electronic handbrake was engaging, I seem to have managed to acquire a "Parking Brake Fault". The brake itself works fine (can be heard engaging/disengaging), only the red warning on the dashdoard along with the "Stop" and spanner lights being lit. Is there any way to reset the fault as it does appear to be a false positive.
There are instructions on the forum but those seem to apply to Scenics... [door open/keycard in/ignition on/push brake release & pull manual release (manual release!?!) ] ?
Any ideas how to at least attempt a reset on a Laguna?

Hi all I am desperately hoping someone can help me.

I have a 2004 Renault Megane cabriolet and the battery died and it sat for a couple of weeks as I was out of the country, it got wet inside and there was some mould which I cleaned up fine.

Since then I got a new battery and every time I put in the radio code it says it is wrong. The book says the code which I have definitely entered before fine, now it jsut wont accept it, I took the radio out myself and checked it online with serial number, still wont accept it. I tried getting a new radio but as its got a CD changer in the boot its not that easy and Ive been told it will be over 250 to put in a new radio as it needs a 5m cable!!! ouch.

I am hoping someone can give me some advice. It would be much appreciated......:grin2:

Megane II 1.4 Petrol Knocking

Hi all,

recently purchased a 1.4 Megane II, 109k. Car has developed what I can only describe as a old tappet sound?? Car also makes a knocking noise when you come off the accelerator at like 2-3k revs, as soon as you put your foot back on the pedal the noise goes away. No running issues, car had a engine rebuild a year ago and has only done 10k miles on the current timing belt. I serviced it with fresh oil Saturday just gone, 4x bosch superfours, and 5l of 10w40 Castrol GTX....I did think dephaser but apparently it's only the 1.6 vvt that has a dephaser pully?? Doing a 300 Mile round trip on sat and don't wanna use the car if it's something that might ruin the engine....

Any ideas?:frown2:

Parking sensors

Hi all

Iv just bought and installed an after market sensor kit on my mk1 Megane convertible
All seemed to be ok and the installation was easy , but upon completion the dash monitor constantly bleeps !!
Iv read on other forums to check measurements and clean the heads etc but these are brand new and all fitted correctly (I hope)
The monitor bleeps even with the sensors disconnected and it's making reverse a nightmare !
Any help with this would be really appreciated

Scenic II 1.6vvt alternator extraction advice **Fixed**

Does the 1.6vvt alternator come straight out the top and can the belt be unloaded without going in through the wheel arch?
Charge fault light came up last night. Made it home almost 30 miles on dips. Battery 12.35 Volts cold this morning
Checked out terminals. Gentle tapping on the casing and the alternator loads back up. Assuming it's the brushes. 130k miles. Happened twice again today, each time a gentle tap gets it charging again.
Sparky lining up the ducks for a refurb, would appreciate a heads up on the extraction.

I've got a espace V diesel 130pk.
My question is,what is the differences between a 130pk and the 150pk and the 170pk?

Is it just me or is anyone experiencing an increased number of windscreen road debris strikes resulting in screen damage compared to their driving past ?

I have never had so many, three strikes in six months, where honestly the last time that happened to me and it was only the once was about 25 years ago when I used to pound Briitain's motorways on a daily basis.

Aren't the roads meant to be swept, and when was the last time anyone saw a road sweeper.

And yes I know comprehensive insurance covers windscreen replacement without affecting the NCB but it's still costs to insurance companies that increases our premiums along with what excess we have pay, if we do to replace a screen.

Fortunately my latest damage I suspect, I hope can be repaired to save me shelling out the excess for what are dirty roads.

Megane iii tce lower ball joint

For all those people out there who need to do this but don't have the funds, here's what I've done instead of changing the whole control arm, I tracked down a knocking noise the other day to a failed ball joint, being a cheap skate I couldn't fork out for the full control arm, so shopped around and bought the ball joint itself for an almighty £12.50... what a PITA it was for fitting but got there in the end, there probably was an easier way to do it but I'm a derrr, anyways I started by securing the car off the ground!!a big must because I'm paranoid enough as it is lol...cracked the ball joint nut so I wasn't fighting with it later and you'll see how the original joint is fitted to the control arm, it looks like it's held together with some kind of pins, infact they are a pin which has been squashed to form a rivet, grind down the bottom of the pins phlush with the ball joint bracket and then drive a chisel of some sort (I used a joiners Chishel to start with then a bolster chisel) through where the joint meets the control arm, when that's off get your pickle fork and separate the joint, knock the left overs of the pins up and your all done...for new joint do in reverse of what you've just done but I had to lift the brake disk and hub with a bottle jack to line up the new holes and bolts,

I know ive rambled a little but it may help a few others out there as I searched and searched the net and couldn't find a thing on doing it like this let alone doing anything to meg 3 1.4 tce :O I've took pics of the before and after but didn't take any in between as I was too busy stressing and swearing, well deserved 0% beer for me lol
